Hiroshima Artist-in-Residence (H-AIR) 6 Month Stay in Hiroshima: Second Application Period is Newly Open

Considering the impact of the recent worldwide spread of coronavirus infections, we have decided to open a second application period.

"Hiroshima Animation Season 2022" (hereinafter referred to as "the Festival") is now accepting applications for "Hiroshima Artist-in-Residence (H-AIR)" program, which invites three animation professionals from Japan and overseas to stay in Hiroshima City for six months from May 1 to October 31, 2022.

During the residency, invitees will participate in cultural exchange activities with local residents and people involved in the arts and culture while working on own projects. (Residency areas: Tsurumi-cho, Yokogawa, and Minaga)

●H-AIR eligible projects

Unpublished new projects related to animation, as well as projects other than animation such as novels, comics, and films are eligible, as long as the projects are intended to be adapted as animation projects in the future. In addition, conducting research or study for the purpose of developing a project is also applicable.

●Interaction activities with local residents

The program will include facilitating lectures and workshops for citizens, such as "Machikado Animation Class" (animation production project by citizens), as well as exchanges with residents of Hiroshima City and the areas where invitees stay, and people involved in art and culture.

Overview of Hiroshima Artist-in-Residence (H-AIR)

(1) First Application period: January 7 (Fri), 2022 - January 31 (Mon), 2022
Second Application period: February 1(Tue), 2022 - until the maximum number of invitees is reached * New addition.

The selection process for the first deadline will be carried out as scheduled, and the second application period will be screened on each application as it is received, and will be closed when the maximum number of invitee is reached, so please apply as early as possible.

(4) Invitation Period: 184 days from May 1 (Sun), 2022 to October 31(Mon), 2022

* Applications will be accepted not only from overseas artists and specialists, but also from artists and specialists working in Japan.
* Applicants who have passed the preliminary selection will be invited for a final online interview (scheduled for mid-February, for applicants of the first deadline), and will be notified of the results within one week.

【Hiroshima Animation Season is held as a main projects of the Media Arts Division of the Hiroshima Festival, which will be newly launched by the Hiroshima City in August 2022 (August 1 - 28, 2022), and will be conducted in three divisions: Competition, Academy and Awards. 】
