Anime Whiteboard Gallery at Canning Town Station This Saturday
posted on by Andrew Osmond
This weekend, hundreds of anime fans will be pouring through London's Canning Town station, many dressed as Saiyans or Shinigami, on their way to the MCM Comic London convention at the ExCel Centre a couple of stops away. (Canning Town station is a transfer point between the London Underground and the Docklands Light Railway.)
On Saturday, visitors will also have the opportunity to see a gallery of anime-inspired artwork at Canning Town station, courtesy of Anthony Jannece, the station's Customer Sales Assistant. The station's "Anime Whiteboard Gallery" will go up on the morning of Saturday October 23 in the station's main ticket hall, for the enjoyment of anime fans and also to promote Mental Health.
Jannece himself will be on hand to talk about his pictures and Mental Health issues (he'll be cosplaying as Tanjiro from Demon Slayer). He told ANN that he has OCD himself, and that drawing the boards has kept him focused and less depressed. Jannece has been drawing anime since 2019; apart from promoting mental health, he creates the pictures to make people smile and feel better about their day.
Jannece's current favourite anime are My Hero Academia and Demon Slayer,' though he also appreciates older titles such as Akira.
