English Power Rangers Comic Includes 1st Chikyu Sentai Fiveman-Based Story

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Boom! Studios' Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers comic went where the North American tokusatsu series has never gone before. The comic book publisher's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Year Two Deluxe Edition comic book includes a story starring a sentai team based on Chikyu Sentai Fiveman. The live-action tokusatsu show premiered in Japan in 1990, but unlike other entries in the Ranger franchise, it was never pulled from for the North American version.

Trey Moore wrote the comic, titled Power Rangers Supersonic for Boom! Studios. It includes a Red, Pink Black, Yellow, Blue, and Green Ranger team. Moore revealed on Twitter that their names are Ace, Star, Gent, Pyre, Brute, and Trek and they hail from the planet Xybria. Moore also put together background material for the team and their overall story, however it hasn't been reviewed or approved by Saban or Hasbro.

Power Rangers Supersonic were previously shown in the 2013 television series Power Ranger Megaforce as a kind of "ultimate form" and the series' Yellow Ranger was able to transform into the "Supersonic Yellow Ranger" during a fight scene in the series.

The original Chikyu Sentai Fiveman centered on a school theme with each Ranger's helmet design reflecting a common school subject, like math, science, gym, foreign language, and music.

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Year Two Deluxe Edition comic book was released on November 20.
