Voice Actress Mayumi Tanaka Plays 3 Anime Characters in 1 TV Block
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Mayumi Tanaka is a busy voice actress. She's so busy that she will have roles in three different anime all during the same programming block. Tanaka will appear in Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katori no Nazotoki File, GeGeGe no Kitarō, and One Piece in Fuji TV's "Adventure Sunday" block on June 17.
Tanaka will play Purisuke, a talking hill myna bird who is the key to a case, in the upcoming episode of Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katori no Nazotoki File. She holds the recurring role of the yōkai Sunakake Baba in GeGeGe no Kitarō and the star pirate Monkey D. Luffy in One Piece.
In a message posted with the announcement, Tanaka said she enjoyed performing the three very different roles for the upcoming anime episodes. She noted that she previously voiced a crow who only said "caw," but it was comparatively easy to show emotion with the speaking role of Purisuke.
Tanaka's other anime's roles include Dragon Ball's Krillin, Sakura Wars' Kanna Kirishima, and Urusei Yatsura's Ryuunosuke Fujinami.
Layton Mystery Tanteisha: Katori no Nazotoki File (Layton Mystery Detective Agency: Kat's Mystery-Solving Files), the television anime inspired by the Professor Layton game franchise, premiered on April 8.
