Watch Cats Play Cards in Chihayafuru Film's Collaboration Videos
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The live-action Chihayafuru: Musubi (Chihayafuru: Conclusion) sequel film will open in Japan on March 17, and mobile carrier au is collaborating with the film to celebrate its release. The company began streaming a "Chihanyafuru -Neko no Ku-" (Chihameowfuru: Cat Verse) video and behind-the-scenes outtakes video for the collaboration on Friday.
In the video, Chihayafuru's main characters become cats and play karuta, a card-collecting game traditionally related to Japanese poetry. The drama unfolds just as in the original manga and its adaptations ― only with more fur.
In addition, au's collaboration with the film includes an online karuta maker with prize campaign, a Real Escape Game by SCRAP, and a private screening of the film.
Yuki Suetsugu's original Chihayafuru manga is celebrating the 10th anniversary since its launch this year. An exhibit for the manga will open in Tokyo on March 23, and Suetsugu has been searching for her auctioned charity art to borrow for the exhibit.
