Sentai Filmworks Adds Kinmoza!/Kin-iro Mosaic Anime

Adaptation of Yui Hara's 4-panel manga premieres on Saturday

North American licensing company Sentai Filmworks announced at Anime Expo on Saturday that it has licensed the television anime series Kin-iro Mosaic under the title KINMOZA! The 12-episode series is slated for home video release in 2014.

Yui Hara's original 4-panel manga's story begins with Shinobu, a 15-year-old, seemingly "pure Japanese" girl who actually did a homestay in Great Britain. Even after coming back to Japan, she still misses her time overseas. One day, an air mail letter arrives from Alice, the girl in Shinobu's host family in Great Britain. The letter reads, "Shinobu, I'm coming to Japan!" The "Japanese/British girls' mixed comedy" follows the lives of Shinobu, Alice, and other girls from both Japan and Great Britain.

Hara launched the manga in Manga Time Kirara Max in 2010, and Houbunsha published the second compiled book volume this past April. Tokyopop published Hara's The Witch of Artemis (Hoshi no Witch) in North America.

Tensho (Rewrite's opening animation director, designs) will be directing the anime at Studio Gokumi (NAKAIMO - My Little Sister Is Among Them!, Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge) from scripts by Yuniko Ayana (Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl, Bakuman.). Kazuyuki Ueda (NAKAIMO - My Little Sister Is Among Them! chief animation director) will be handling the character designs.

The five main voice cast members Asuka Nishi (Shinobu Ōmiya), Manami Tanaka (Alice Cartelet), Risa Taneda (Aya Komichi), Nao Tōyama (Karen Kujō), and Yumi Uchiyama (Yōko Inokuma) will perform the opening theme song "Jumping!!" and ending theme "Your Voice" as the new group Rhodanthe*.

The anime began airing in Japan on Saturday. Crunchyroll will stream the anime in several regions as it airs.
