Katawa Shoujo English Eroge Gets Japanese Physical Version

Katawa Shoujo, the English-language eroge developed by a staff of volunteers from 4chan's /a/ board, is getting a Japanese-language physical version. The project originally started based on a doujin by RAITA with an omake page with a focus on girls with varying medical conditions. The image was posted in 2007 and the group of volunteers labored on the project until the final chapter was released in 2012. The game has only been offered digitally.
The game stars Hisao Nakai, a boy who transfers to a new school for differently-abled students after he is hospitalized for a serious heart conditions. The game faced controversy during its development and release because of both the depiction of differently-abled characters and sexual content and the title itself. "Katawa" in Japanese is more closely translated to "cripple" and is considered derogatory in its native language.
The game translated on the official website in English, French, Spanish, and Japanese. The Japanese physical version will go on sale on May 5 at Tokyo Big Sight and include bonus materials. A promotional video for the Japanese edition began streaming earlier this month.
