I better try and sell my Cinedigm DVDs for $20 while I still can. I really should have returned them. Hardly better than those infamous awful subs that read like they were translated into English by a guy who speaks Japanese and Swedish.

Great to have Streaming Original saint seiya on crunchyroll. but, It's Only Streaming sanctuary arc. some people they wanted full series contains 114 episodes & OVA series Focusing on hades arc which split 3 parts. 1st part ova has 13 episodes, 2nd part ova has 12 episodes, & 3rd part ova has 6 episodes. that's total 31 episodes ova. that put it all on crunchyroll. Hades arc is one my favorite arc I've ever seen. that need that on crunchyroll. Cool [/url]

What a shame, I heard nothing but awful things about the Cinedigm DVDs, so I passed on them. So the question here is, are the Crunchyroll streams better or are they just copies of the DVD episodes?

I'm watching now, about six episodes in. Having read extensive reviews of the Cinedigm release, I can firmly say that most of the problems remain. Primarily, the translation is very poor, often to the point of unintentional comedy, and the video quality is abhorrent, considering the beautiful recent releases of other classics like Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon. That said, none of the sync errors are in the streaming version, most likely meaning that was a disc error above anything.

Honestly, I'm enjoying the show, and the translation errors kind of make the experience fun in a weird way. But if you're looking for a fantastic version of the series, well, this isn't it. Here's hoping we'll be able to get a good translation of the restored BluRay sets someday...

As weak as Cinedigm's DVD quality is, the video on the Blu-ray is even worse because it got a Q-Tec upscale (like Toei's other recent releases) and unlike Slam Dunk, they didn't even fix the problems that the R2 DVDs had.

Oof, ouch, those hurt to look at. Honestly, I didn't see the big hubbub about the remastering of Sailor Moon (it had issues, but I still thought it looked nice, subjectively speaking,) but these are just atrocious. The colors are washed out and muted and... well, you know.

How sad. I really wish Saint Seiya could get a good release, as it's such a fantastic show. By the way, do you know anything about the rumors that Toei threw out most, if not all, of the original vocal track tapes for Seiya? Is there any truth to that?

Glad to see the original series getting some exposure over here. Wish they would've finished the dub, even with a different cast (they would've had to replace Seiya anyway...). It's weird how this show is so iconic in Europe and Latin America (it's like the Dragon Ball Z of Mexico, even with DBZ's own popularity there), but the show went completely under the radar in English-speaking territories. It's a shame. I've been meaning to watch the show on Hulu. May have to watch the rest on Crunchyroll when it's available to non-subscribers.

No idea exactly but they did for Dragon Ball & Dragon Ball Z so it's probably safe to assume that the same happened here as well.

I would've liked if Cinedigm had included the Spanish dub into the set. I've seen the Spanish dub of Saint Seiya including the movies and I would love to own them.

I have the first DVD collection from ADV, great show, it's a shame it didn't do as well in America (thanks Dic, they're not knights -_-)

^ To be fair, the Knights of the Zodiac title (or a translation of it) is what's used in many foreign countries, including ones in Europe and Latin America where it was VERY popular. The show failed probably because it was too old and it wasn't promoted very well.

From what I saw in the mid-40s episodes, the translation seems pretty alright. At least, grammatically-speaking, it does; I can't speak too much on its accuracy, though I do have this vibe that the translation is over-simplifying some of the lines.
