We’re down to the final six episodes. I wonder if this will adapt the manga or if there will eventually be a season two.

I have to imagine there will be a season 2. I love the show (and the manga) and I've heard nothing but praise all over the internet and there's plenty of material for at least another cour, if not 2 (although that might risk catching up with the manga, depending on how they pace the show). I suppose the real question is ratings, which I definitely don't know. Like I said, I've heard nothing but praise (and I have nothing to give but praise as well) from the internet, but plenty of critical darlings haven't had the actual numbers to get studios / executives interested in making more.

The numbers are absolutely there. The BDs sold a lot, and the anime consistently has high viewership/ratings on TV. The actual question is wether or not quality on this level can be repeated.

I have no doubt we’ll get season 2, but there may be a lengthy wait - the manga only recently returned from a long hiatus, and the release schedule is similar to One Piece now.

If my guess is correct and the anime adaptation ends at chapter 60 (it's at chapter 47 as of the latest ep) then there is more than enough for a second season given that the manga's currently at chapter 124. After that though you might be right
